Frankly offers three types of events on our platform: hosted, hostless, and livestream.

Hosted events allow the host to have up to 8 participants in one room and the option to create breakout rooms with control over the entire event.
- This format is perfect for meetings, social discussions, classrooms, and more.
Hostless events provide a guided experience for an unlimited number of registrants in breakouts of 2 to 10 participants through Smart Match or By Size without a host.
- This format is perfect for structured conversations, deliberative events, debates, and more.
Livestreams allow the host to stream video through a third party platform for participants to view before they are sent into hostless breakouts of 2 to 10 participants through Smart Match or By Size.
- This format is perfect for large scale events, screenings, and more.

Hosted Events

If you are looking for a traditional facilitated event with a clear host, Frankly is a great option. We allow the host to have up to 8 participants in one room while also providing the option to create breakout rooms. The host will have control over the entire event, from start to finish. All participants will start in the waiting room before your event officially begins.

Hostless Events

In addition to hosting your event, you can also create a hostless event! With hostless events, you specify the guide and room size - whether 5 or 1,000 people available to RSVP - and we’ll automatically break them out into rooms based on your specifications. All participants will be starting in the waiting room before your event.

Choose content to show participants in the waiting room before the event
1. Upload Waiting Room video or image for participants to view in the waiting room. This is what everyone will see until the event starts.
2. Upload Intro video or image to play at the start of the event. This is what everyone will see once the event starts.
3. Set a time length for participants to view the intro before being sent into breakout rooms. Note: Make sure the length is at least as long as your video!
4. Preview video upload by clicking on ‘▷’
5. Change image or video with ‘✐’ or delete with ‘🗑’

2. Use the scale to input how many people will grouped in each room
c. Or set up breakout rooms by variety with Smart Match. Smart Match allows you to break participants into evenly distributed rooms based on their responses to a set of your binary questions.

4. Click ‘🗑’ to delete or ‘✓’ to save

Livestreams

Livestream events are perfect for providing guided, hostless breakouts after large scale events with up to 1000+ participants. During the livestream, participants can chat or make suggestions. Afterwards, the host can kick off breakouts to start small group discussions.
