This article covers how to host a Frankly event, whether it's hosted, hostless, or livestream. We use "host" for whoever's running the event. Community admins can host any event, whereas moderators and facilitators can host events they have created.

Getting Set Up

Device

When running an event, we highly recommend using a desktop or laptop computer in order to have the best experience with facilitating. While participating is supported on mobile, we do not suggest it for anyone moderating.

Managing an event is much easier on a larger screen as you'll have a clear view of all participants, be able to navigate the admin panel more comfortably, and can keep an eye on breakout rooms without the constraints of a smaller display.

Sidebar Navigation

Within the event, you’ll have the following options in the side bar navigation:

1. Agenda: View, edit and add to the agenda.
2. Chat: Message participants, view chat history, and remove messages.
3. Admin: Create and manage breakout rooms, mute participants, lock meetings, and reset agenda.

Roles and Permissions

Host is the practical term for whoever is running the event. It's not a role in the platform itself. Depending on how the event's set up, the host holds Admin, Moderator, or Facilitator permissions, and each comes with a different set of capabilities.

If you enter as an Admin in an event hosted by a Moderator or Facilitator, you keep your own Admin capabilities.

As an Admin, Moderator, and Facilitator, you are able to:

1. Manage event agendas (advancing an event agenda, editing and adding to agendas, and resetting them);
2. Manage event participants (remove participants, mute all participants, delete participant messages);
3. Lock meetings.
